Transport: structures, infrastructures and mobilities

A great variety of issues is addressed in this challenge. Technological and organisational advances will be achieved through strong interactions between scientific disciplines.

The INSA Lyon expertise could be sketched as a triptych: vehicle – infrastructure – uses, illustrating both excellence in scientific disciplines and innovative multidisciplinary approaches.

Vehicle: mobile apparatus allowing the transportation of goods and/or persons

Understanding of the behaviors and passive or active improvement of vehicle performances and its design: energy efficiency – reduction of losses and emissions, energy harvesting, lightweight structures, motorization improvements, etc -, comfort improvement – reduction of noise and vibration pollutions -, safety improvement, enhancement of material and component behaviors - processes, performances, functionalization, etc.). The resulting outputs from methodological developments contribute to improve the analysis, design, and optimization processes of the vehicle during use.

Infrastructure: combination of devices and networks allowing the optimal moving of vehicles

Modeling, simulation and analysis of transport systems in order to optimize logistics, communication / sensors / distribution networks, data extraction and sharing, and energy resources.

Uses: combination of uses, organizations, and human behaviors

Analysis, modeling, and understanding of uses, organizations, and human behaviors as societal practices for mobility, depending on the transportation offers, needs, and societal usages: ergonomics, decision assistance, mobility optimization, data mining, management assistance, and new services...
